Energy Democracy

Imagine if we all had access to affordable, renewable electricity—no matter our income or skin color.

Our bills would be manageable, we wouldn’t have to choose between buying groceries and keeping the lights on, and our electricity would come from renewable energy sources that keep our environment clean.

We call this Energy Democracy: a renewable energy system governed by people. And it’s already happening in cities across the country.

From Boston to Florida to the East Bay, communities are rejecting the greedy and harmful practices of their current electric utilities, and reimagining an energy system that centers everyday people, workers, and our planet.

This toolkit provides videos, factsheets, and a slidedeck to help organizers, community members, and grassroots groups win the power to both light our homes and create the society we want to live in.

Created in collaboration with Little Things Studio.
